This Port of Tacoma project site was the location of some historical contamination and pollution. The site was originally constructed by the Port to make up for animal and fish habitat that was lost when the Sea-Land Terminal was built in 1984. BASELINE Engineering, Inc., has been involved with this particular site since the early 1990's. The extent of BASELINE's involvement ranged from wetland delineation to design topographic survey to construction surveying. In 2002, BASELINE was subcontracted by Glacier Construction Services, Inc. for the construction surveying for Phase I of the Habitat Restoration project. This phase encompassed the northern portion of the site.
Currently, BASELINE is subcontracted by Phillips Services Corporation Environmental Services for the construction surveying in the Phase II portion of the site. This phase includes the removal of contaminated material and construction of a new fish habitat area, as well as related levees and berms. The project is scheduled for completion in 2008.
